Designing a 100-Workstation IT Infrastructure for a Translation Company
- From Blueprint to Execution
One of my most challenging projects, back in 2013, was planning, designing, and implementing the IT infrastructure for a translation agency.
The process was started by analyzing the buildings floor plan to divide the space by department.
I planned and mapped the placement of desks and designed the physical infrastructure for the network, power, and phone cabling systems, ensuring seamless connectivity to the server room.
In total, I used 8 spools of 305-meter network cable, spanning an impressive 2.4 kilometers.Additionally, I set up the server room itself, carefully designing the layout of the rack, which network switches, telephone central, UPS units, and servers. This setup ensured that the core infrastructure was robust and well-organized to support efficient operations.
The entire design process, from taking measurements to finalizing the department and equipment layout, was completed in just two days. The company’s relocation was executed over a single weekend—beginning Friday evening and wrapping up by Monday morning, with only 8 hours of sleep in between. It was a fast-paced, high-pressure project, but the outcome was nothing short of exceptional.
After the planned modifications, the result was a fully functional IT infrastructure supporting 100 workstations, ensuring seamless communication and workflow between departments.
This project required both technical precision and careful planning to meet the specific operational needs of the company. It was an incredible experience, combining problem-solving, hands-on execution, and a deep understanding of IT infrastructure to deliver a system that could support a fast-paced work environment.
